Alive Oobleck

What’s oobleck? It’s a popular name referring to a stiff mixture of corn starch and water. The name is taken from one of the children’s author Dr Seuss’ book Bartholomew and the Oobleck.

So place this oobleck on top of a rattling, vibrating speakers, you’d get some slimey and creepy creatures that looks like they’re alive.

Another presentation from the internet - a “manual” animation. Go to this website grab the “stripes” from the right and slowly drag to the left side of your screen. I’m sure that took many hours to do (or probably they just import it from an image file and slice it from photoshop) - but still cool though.

Just as Neo said in the Matrix - “woah”.

Go there now.

Fascinating Namba Parks

I remember Malaysia had a “Look East” policy of trying to emulate the Japanese’s own success, without being too dependent on other countries. The Japanese have this drive to be different and are always one step ahead of others in terms of innovation and creativity. Not sure if that explains the high number of suicides there but anyway, that’s a different topic.

Now the Japanese has shown us how they can build something so modern and yet, still make way for nature, something that we Malaysians didn’t learn. Here we bulldoze the rainforests and bush to make way for shopping malls and parking spaces. Every inch is for rent.

Have a look at Namba Parks, located in Osaka, Japan.

Human Tetris

Watching the game below, it makes me wonder if those people, I mean blocks were irritated when the “gamer” keeps rotating them. I bet each person made hundreds of movements from one seat to another. It reminds me when Catholics went to confession in the Sacred Heart church before the Holy Week or Christmas, change your seat row by row, until you get to the first and then you can do your confession hehe.
