Well - whenever a new brand comes out with its new model car, often we judge firstly by its design right? So with a heading like “mind-blowing” you’d think BMW has a new, unique design. They took a step more, well not just a step, I think they went for a leap.

What BMW produced instead is a car with fabric exterior - yes not metal. A combination of fabric and wires underneath it defines it shape and because the wires can be moved, the shaped can be changed whenever the driver feels like it.

Only when you open the door you can see presence of the fabric

Opening for the head lights.
In the future, when our cars are made of fabric, then a whole new business of car-skinning will crop. In addition to our clothes, we will have to iron our cars too!
Still hard to believe huh? Watch the video here or if your youtube connection is not slow, here’s the embedded video from youtube.

I wonder what would happen when the car hits another car or got into an accident.

Oh no! Then we not only send our cars to be washed and vacuumed, but also to be ironed!

So this what BMW doing all this while? A cloth car? It’ cool but won’t that decrease the top speed of the car? It ain’t going to protect the driver.

I recall Batman’s costume when I read the term ‘fabric’. A car with a dynamic template or a theme-able car. I want to scratch it.
