So many times already we’ve heard about how animals displayed strange behaviour just before a natural disaster struck. I first heard this after the tsunami when reports state that elephants headed for the hills and fishes were found in shallow waters.
Before the recent earthquake in Chengdu, China also saw the weird journey of 10,000 toads. They were moving away from the area which were to be hit by a powerful 7.9-magnitude earthquake a few days later. This morning the dead toll from the disaster stood at 15,000 while 20,000 are still missing - I presumed no toads are among the casualties.
Here’s the news report on the toads journey.
The information attached:
Earthquake threat:On May 9,2008,hundreds of thousands of toads went on a journey in Mianzhu City, near Wenchuan County,in Sichuan. Many people worried about it as the threat of natural disaster. Local TV station reported it,a so-called forestry expert denied that it was the threat of natural disaster,so nobody valued it.
I hope those who understand Mandarin can let me know what were being said in the clip.
Here’s another short clip touching on animals displaying erratic behaviour before the tsunami in asia.

I remember during the Greg Storm in KK, when the winds had just started blowing a little stronger than usual, the dogs around the neighbourhood were howling loud and long, sounding very urgent-like, and the cats in my house had goose-bump-like raised furs and hissing away… I had Goldfishes in an aquarium and they were jumping around furiously in the tank! I remember noticing all that odd behaviour and wondering whether the animals were pre-empting / warning / precautioning some kind of major crisis…

So we must pay attention carefully to animals behaviour as they have special sensitivity.
