Earthquake Cloud - another sign of impending quake?
Earthquake clouds are weird and uncommon clouds formation that some say, gives sign that an earthquake is about to occur over that area soon. Before this I posted about animals displaying strange behaviour, specifically the story about 10,000 toads in China moving away a few days before the big earthquake that has taken 39 thousand people so far.
Here are the “earthquake clouds” taken half an hour before the earth moved in China.
Zhonghao Shou, a retired Chinese chemist living in New York has been studying and monitoring these so-called earthquake clouds and claims to have made 80% accurate predictions. You can find his predictions on this website but the last update I saw was in 2007 (eventhough the footer says last update was this year).
Stress and friction in the ground can vaporize water long before the earthquake happens, according to Shou, and clouds formed through these mechanisms are distinctively shaped. He has identified five different types of earthquake cloud, including “line-shaped”, “feather-shaped”, and “lantern shaped” clouds. He claims that an earthquake will take place within 103 days of the appearance of one of these clouds, and that the average time is 30 days. On December 25, 2003, one day before the Bam earthquake, he predicted an earthquake of mag. 5.5+ within 60 days over a fault line in Iran.[1]
This cloud-spotting is not something new, it was already noticed 300 years ago!
“Ancient Chinese and Italians studied special clouds which were indicative of impending earthquakes. The Chronicle of Lon-De County (35.7 E, 106.1 N) in Ningxia province, China, 300 years ago (recompiled in 1935) recorded. “It was sunny and warm; the sky was blue and clear. Suddenly, there appeared threads of a black cloud spanning the sky like a long snake. The cloud stayed for a long time, so there would be an earthquake”
This earthquake cloud looks like snake. This was taken in Sumatera a day before an earthquake hit the area in 2006.
I remember the “dragon clouds” seen on Sabahan skies a day before the Greg tragedy, however that wasn’t an earthquake so no connection.
Anyway with the tremors hitting Tawau and KL yesterday, we cannot throw the possibility that we in Malaysia will be hit by earthquake some day.
So in the meantime, if you see the animals around you behave strangely and you see a snake up in the clouds on a clear sunny day, head for the hills!

Very bizarre. Quake prone areas should consider watching out for this.
As for the dragon cloud, any pics of it?
