Well - if you’ve never sent out a snail mail since the internet is around - this news would only convince you that you’re on the right path. Someone in Poland actually calculated and proved that snail mail is slower than snail.
WARSAW (Reuters) - It’s official. Postal delivery is as slow as snails, at least in Poland.
An IT worker, after receiving a letter on January 3 that was sent on December 20 as priority mail, calculated that a snail would have made it even faster to his home than the letter.
Daily Gazeta Wyborcza said Michal Szybalski calculated that it took 294 hours for the letter to arrive at his home. He also said the distance between his home and the sender was 11.1 kilometers.
Given the distance and the time, the speed of the letter was 0.03775 kilometers per hour. Szybalski calculated that a garden snail travels at around 0.048 kilometers per hour.

Registered letter takes 55 days for interstate delivery
MALACCA: A registered letter from Batu Gajah in Perak took 55 days to be delivered to Ayer Keroh here.
Factory owner B.H. Ong said his client had sent the letter on Nov 28 but he only received a notification card from the post office here on Tuesday to collect it.
“I am puzzled as my factory is only 100 metres away from the Ayer Keroh post office,” he told The Star.
Ong said he had gone to the post office in Ayer Keroh as well as the main post office in Bukit Baru to enquire about the letter several times but they could not trace it.
“The letter contained a payment cheque and I had to request my client to cancel it and issue a fresh one due to the long delay,” he added.
When contacted, an official from the state post office here said the registered letter was received on Nov 29 and was sent to the Ayer Keroh office to be delivered to Ong.
“But it was not sent and the letter was only returned to Bukit Baru recently,” he said, adding that they were at fault for not delivering the letter.
