Selling pokemon cards gave instant fame to a mother of 6

pokemonA mother tried to dispose off a set of Pokemon cards because her children sneaked them into the shopping cart and she ended up paying for it without her realising it. She put it up for auction on eBay and just to make sure everyone understand why she is selling them, she told her story of her shopping adventure with her 6 kids.

Probably the way she told her story and maybe other parents can relate to her experiences, her auction received more than 149,000 hits and her blog gets more than 18,000 visitors in a day. Her internet fame is peaking now.

My wife and me read through her story and were laughing all the way. Here’s a snippet.

China Airlines Logo on Wreckage Covered-up

china airlines flames explosion exploded
You know about the recent airplane explosion involving the China Airlines in Japan? Well unbeknown to me, well to us, ..okay to the world that there is an international procedure where in the event of a crash or explosion or whatever that is bad, the logo and names of the airplanes in question will have to be covered up.

When asked about the cover up, their answer was “We followed international procedures. We do not have detailed information.”

Okay, so like covering them up will make the people forget the name quicker. Don’t these PR people know that it will work the opposite? Pics of the cover-up after the jump.

How to use your mobile phone as a firework launcher

phone as a fireworks launcher

Do you have any old unused Nokia 3310 lying around? Why not make a firework launcher? Hari Raya is coming soon and those are the times that many children get their limbs blown off by firing off fireworks. So being a responsible adult that you are, you can make a remote firework launcher and impress the children.

This also satisfied my curiosity on how some people use handphones to detonate.. eh - I cannot say.. you know.. terrorism-related activities.. the reason why our government requires everyone register their SIM cards.

Yeah video after the jump.

Huge Links of AJAX-Solutions

This one’s for the web developers (if any).

Smashing Magazines have compiled a huge list of links to AJAX solutions that you can use to enhance your web applications. Among the list here, I’ve tried a few. My favourite would be the “instant edit”. Where your users can just edit the test on the page itself.

Save yourself (and your users) from opening up another page for editing. Anyway, with 80+ of tips, I’m sure any web developers out there can find something useful to use.

Check out the list here.
