Toothache. Dentist. Arrrgghhhhhhhhh!
The pain.. the pain.. here comes the pain….

Well. I have a toothache and so a dreaded appointment with the dentist cannot be avoided - it’s today at 10am. I’m sure 99% of you don’t like visiting the dentist (the remaining 1% are the dentist).
Actually, I’ve made regular visits for the past 2 years (before that was a 12-year hiatus since school) but everytime when the day of the appointment comes, I can feel shivers from my teeth down to my spine. I can’t even enjoy surfing the net this morning.
I did some basic searching and read some interesting stuff about dental phobia, and why some people are afraid of dentists. Here are some stuff which I found - they can be amusing or scary.
There are only 15 people wanted to stop being afraid of the dentist on 43things hehe.
Here’s a comment from that page.
I cracked and lost a tooth 6 months ago playing field hockey. And even though there’s a huge gap where the tooth used to be, I still can’t go. I started hyperventilating just talking to the receptionist on the phone.
Here’s the fear: I haven’t been in a long time. So long in fact, that I am afraid of what they will find. So it leads some anxiety, because what if they do find something? Something that I can’t afford to pay for?
True oh - the longer you don’t pay a visit to the dentist, the more problems will accumulate and the longer the session with your dentist when you finally have to go.

This one from Yahoo Answers : Why are some people afraid of the dentist ?
Some answers by the visitors
because some people…like myself have had traumatic experiences as children with dentists….my primary school dentist was a butcher…aaahhhhh
probably i was in the same school as him
Because sometimes, the dentist misses your teeth and drills the gums
never happened to me but I hope it won’t today!
i think there’s more than one reason. people have a fear of having a drilling. some people only have a fear of needles. dentists needles sometimes have to go deeper than you’d expect
i have the fear of excruciating pain
one person that baffled me is my wife - she’s really afraid of going to the dentist. she said she won’t be able to stand the pain - yeah right.
and she went through the 12-hour labour pain without dropping any tear - only when Jordan was placed in her arms that I saw her tears of joy. comparing the dentist drilling a small hole the size of the head of a needle and bopping out a baby the size of an overgrowth watermellon - i think the dentist’s “pain” session is bearable.
hey.. maybe that’s the solution? if the dentist can pick out something from our teeth and give it to us, will it make the pain more bearable? maybe some gold nuggets or uncut diamonds.
so are you afraid of the dentist? so afraid that you’d rather pull your own tooth out?
tell me, when you watch Mr Bean’s dentist appointment when he drilled his own tooth, were you laughing or wriggling in non-existent pain?

Argghh, the dreaded dentist! The last time I went to the dentist was when the dinosaurs ruled the earth, so you can imagine what the dentist will find in there! Probably a whole colony T-Rexes! I hate dentist! All the best, hope the agony isn’t too long. Hang in there Bro

People normally survive. Don’t worry. As for me..going to dentist is like too late. That’s why I have Dracula like teeth. But useful when there’s no paper hole puncher around.. :B

I am not scared of the dentist anymore: I survived root canal many years ago . But that Dr Ironwoman dentist at Fortuna scared the hell out of my daughter.
