Cross on the coconut tree in Keningau
If you’re a Christian in Sabah, maybe you’ve received the SMS about the so-called appearance of a cross on a coconut leaf, just like what happened in Palembang, Indonesia last Easter. It made it to the Daily Express today but they haven’t got the balls to publish the pictures. Only people praying and taking pictures of the tree.
My mom asked me to go there and take the pictures/videos but I declined. She’s down with flu so she can’t go. Anyway, a few pictures managed to find its way to my inbox so here I am publishing them.
Cross or not? I think it’s just a case of pareidolia - a phenomenon involving a vague and random stimulus (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant. You can check out another pareidolia - the face of a monster on a pinang tree here.

To be honest, there’s nothing to get excited about over these pictures - I *think* I see a cross and no, I don’t see Mother Mary. Alamak - I have too many sins to be able to see kah? Hehehe.
Since people are still making their way there, maybe it’s only visible to the naked eye. If you have any better pictures, then please send them over.
If you look at the pictures on DE, people were seen seriously praying (I hope not praying to the tree though). If this “appearance” convinces people to pray more then that’s a good thing. Hopefully someone wanted to commit murder changes his mind when he passes that tree.
If someone starts shouting “THE END IS NIGH” and run around converting people, then that is bad. I hope everyone just be cautious and keep our feet firmly on the ground.
Is God trying to tell us something? Well God has been trying to tell us a lot of things since the earth was born - but we are not listening. I tend to look at the little miracles and ordinary things around my life to know what He’s saying. Bah don’t mean to sound preachy.

nop. its nature. There are many formations like that (cross) if you are diligent enough to check all the coconut trees, those deformed leaves. But its nice to see Christ crucifixion is manifested by nature.
And don’t believe the images of mary / christ. Those are not genuine. Some are from posters etc etc

maaf andai ada yang tersinmggung. fenomena ini sebenarnya suatu yang biasa berlaku cuma mungkin ada yang terlepas pandang sebab saya biasa melihat keadaan ini terutama di mana banyak poko kelapa. ianya disebabkan serangan sejenis penyakit dan beberapa lama akan kelihatan spt daun kelapa di sebelahnya itu. untuk jangka panjang kesemua daun akan rosak dan cuma tinggal batang kelapa itu sahaja. cuba lihat pokok berhampiran, kemungkinan ada yang sudah terputus hujung daunnya.

ajaran sejati gereja masih belum bangkrap!!! lebih manis dari buah kelapa tu..
kita belum mengharapkan keajaiban @sensasi si pokok kelapa itu untuk menggantikan kesejatian pengalaman hidup seorang yang sudah dibaptis!.

masih ada Alkitab atau dokumen gereja atau peristiwa yang sangat luar biasa yang sudah di SAH kan oleh vatican membantu iman.

tapi manusialah imej Allah yg sebenar. pentingkan dulu jiwa manusia yang memberi kesaksian.

RENUNGAN UNTUK ORANG KRISTIAN - INJIL YOHANES 4:5 - 42
Maka sampailah Ia ke sebuah kota di Samaria, yang bernama Sikhar dekat tanah yang diberikan Yakub dahulu kepada anaknya, Yusuf.
4:6 Di situ terdapat sumur Yakub. Yesus sangat letih oleh perjalanan, karena itu Ia duduk di pinggir sumur itu. Hari kira-kira pukul dua belas.

4:40 Ketika orang-orang Samaria itu sampai kepada Yesus, mereka meminta kepada-Nya, supaya Ia tinggal pada mereka; dan Iapun tinggal di situ dua hari lamanya.
4:41 Dan lebih banyak lagi orang yang menjadi percaya karena perkataan-Nya,

kamarin sia pigi gereja Kinarut (st agustine) dan saya nampak ini satu couple bercerita dari mula sambayang sampai habis sambayang. Apa sudah jadi ni? kalau mau bercerita balik rumah lah. kalau bercerita among themselves tida apa juga, tapi sampai mau ikut2 cakap (ajuk2) katekis masa kaajalan tu sudah melampau!! warden bagi warning pun dia tidak peduli!

I am not really sure lah wats happening to our world I guess there are messages on the apprition of ther cross on the coconut tree. First in Palembang then Keningau , Tambunan,Kudat and recently in Talantang Kota Marudu. It is like the station of cross. Wat ever it is our faith to Jesus is the most important. We pray the we are always be protected and guide us in watever we do and whereever we go.

Interesting. Someone sent me an email about this incident last month but I never got the chance to read it ( I lied to that someone by saying I did read them ) not until my friend brought this topic up yesterday. Here are my random opinions.
I believe in God but I also secretly believe in science and psychological connection. What took place was just a natural phenomenan. The leaves appeared just as it is. Its original state.There’s no miracle. It’s a cross for you, because you want it to be a cross. If I want it to be an arrow, it does look like one and so if I want it to be a sword. It’s all in your head and how you view the subject depends on how your mind works and your interpretation on this subject is very much based on what you believe and your belief is.
See, I believe that the universe is made by God and that He can never be created or destroyed, always was and always has been, everything that ever existed is always exist, and always move in a form, out of form or through a form. But if I go to a physicist, they’ll tell me that the world is made of Energy. Energy too can never be created or destroyed, all ever was and always will be, everything that ever existed is always exist, and always move in a form, out of form or through a form. It’s the same description but different terminology.
What I’m trying to say here is that if we see it in a scientific ways or physics, when there’s an energy there are atoms. Particles move randomly forming somekind of atomic structures (patterns), the molecule, is the basic of nature. Pattern forms can and may be attracted by the energy you send. This I used and refered to the theory of the Law of Attraction where you attract the energy around you. For example, I visualize the image of Mother Mary in my head and I feel the presence in my heart, I am actually sending my energy to the universe thus attracting the positive energy around to achieve my visualisation. Therefore, thoughts become things. What you think, imagine or visualize, you will see. Some may say hallucination or an illusion. It’s psychologically connected. It’s all in your mind. This can also be refered to as pareidolia.

If I want to interpret it in a theological way, I can just refer to the bible just like everyone else did. Read verse on Matthew 24:27-30.
Did the Bible mention anything about the revelation of Mother Mary? (err, i’m not sure where i’m leading this to). The Bible seemed to only mention about the revelation of the Son of Man. Oh, wait! I found one but was it Mary?
“Then a great and mysterious sight appeared in the sky. There was a woman, whose dress was the sun and who had the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.” (Revelation 12:1)
I’m just quite dissapointed to read about the believers, be it Catholics or Christians, having to witness all these started to light candles and pray TO the tree. Prolly because they feel blessed because it happened on a palm tree which signifies palm sunday therefore prayed to it. I supposed if these thing appeared on a donkey (Jesus rides on a donkey on palm sunday) you gonna pray to the donkey too? Without realizing they are actually converted their belief into animism. And I actually laughed at these.

well, it depends on indiviual perception. If one believed it to be just a co-incidience then be it. If one believed it from GOD then be it. And I also diagreed those who ment to kneel and pray under the coconut tree. What may happened if suddenly a coconut fell onthe head of the person?

i heard bout this shining cross on top of the coconut tree a few days ago .. my mothers call me and tell me bout it . meaning i didnt see it for myself coz im in kl la at da moment. in my point of view i’ll agree to all of the person who has leave their comment on this but 1 thing for sure is that it is all up to us to understand it .. how we interpret it with our own way .. but be sure the interpretation wasnt at the wrong side la .. remember we are CHRISTIAN and hopefully all of you out there understand what christianity all about. My advice for all who seek for the truth or or the meaning behind those mysterious scene try to pray ask for guidness.. though i not really a holly person i belive that tru prayer and only tru prayer we will communicate with GOD. By the way i can say that i might be one of millions of the living witness that GOD do answer our prayer….

i believe the cross at coconut trees. First it happen in Palembang [Indonesia], second in Sabah and now in Simunjan, Sarawak (Jan2008-Mac2008 & still there). i saw it myself with my own eyes without the aid of technology and scientific explanation. it is a sign by jesus to tell us, please wake up & renew your faith in him. Look around us. look what’s happening to the world today. All these catastrophe and troubles are mentioned in the Revelation. i am not saying the world is at its end but jesus said please be on your guard at all time cos i come like a thief. jesus said again you only need to have faith as small as a musterd seed if you dont have a strong faith. so, believe the sign of cross in the coconut trees as a wake up calls.
