WP upgraded to 2.2
I spent the good part of the early morning today (around 2am) upgrading my Wordpress to version 2.2. I upgraded from 2.1 straight to 2.2 (yes.. I admit it.. I skipped all 2.1.X versions).
There are many features documented by the developers but for the users you might not notice any difference (in fact, me too
) but as long as I am using the latest version and with no errors anywhere (my fingers still crossed), then it’s all right.
Upgrading from 2.1 (inclusive of 2.1.X) to 2.2 is just like the usual drill. Backup files and database, turn off all plugins, delete certain WP files, upload new files, open the wp upgrade page, turn on plugins and test.
I managed to do all under 20 minutes with more than half of the time downloading files to my computer for backup.
If you are still thinking upgrading or not, I’ll just scare you a little… this is taken from the Wordpress development blog :
We don’t plan to continue to support the 2.1 branch, so this is a required upgrade.
Emmm my next course of action is to change the template for this blog, I’m thinking of using a 3-column theme. Any suggestions?
Anyway, go and download the latest WP now : http://wordpress.org/download/

Yay! Another 2.2 success story.
3 columns. That will be interesting.
