New English words
Well actually, they’re not really new - it’s only me who had just discovered them
. So not sure if you know about these, so I figured I might just shared them.
abecedarian :
- a person who is learning the letters of the alphabet.
- a beginner in any field of learning.
So my son Jordan is an abecedarian. The other day he asks me “daddy, why u don’t wear lipstick?”.
Egosurfing :
Egosurfing is looking to see how many places on the Web your name appears. Another definition reads “conducting a search of the Internet for references to one’s name or works in order to gratify one’s ego”.
I’ve read that many CEOs and other high positioned officers do this to check how popular they are. Gee.. and I thought I was the only one who do this kind of stuff. I didn’t even know there’s a word for it.
WWILF : Not a word, just an acronym for “what was i looking for”. Apparently studies have shown that majority of internet users have this wwilf moment whenever they’re online. You know, you were supposed to research for something online but decided to check your email first. Saw your friend forwarded a funny video on youtube. Watched it and continued to watch other videos under the “related” tab.
20 minutes later you’d be wondering why you are watching a video of the Simpsons. That’s a wwilf moment (pronounced “wilf”?).
So when your boss asks you why the report is delayed, just say “oh - I had a wwilf problem with the PC”. If you sound confident enough, he will back off thinking it’s some sort of a hardware problem that he don’t to get involved in.
FYI - wwilf is not included yet in any official dictionary but it has my vote for inclusion though since it affects me too ![]()

Marge Simpson doing the egosurfing…
Do you remember the new word “egosurfing” that I mentioned last week?
Looks like Marge Simpson did that too and she found 629,000 results for her name. Not bad compared to my name. I found only 130,000 results for “jeffrey michael…
