Kotobian Tadau Tagazo do Kaamatan

Translated - Happy Harvest Festival! Yes today is the climax for the most important celebration for the local ethnic tribes in the state of Sabah, Malaysia - it’s so important that we have 2 days holidays (30th and 31st of May), that is one day more than Christmas and Good Friday holidays.

Anyway, though many people are flocking to the KDCA to enjoy the festivities, my wife and I are still thinking of going there or not. If the same heavy rain + thunder + lightning that hit the area yesterday would occur again, then there’s a good chance that we will be wet as well.

Since a few of my regular readers are Sabahans but based elsewhere, I am posting a few sites that provide some fresh pictures and videos of Unduk Ngadau (beauty queens). Hope you guys feel at home.

The Legend of Huminodun : For those who wants to know the story behind the annual beauty queen
UndukNgadau.com : Showcasing Sabahan beauties
Jason Jay : He’s in-charge of the choreography for the finalists. Pictures as well as videos from Sugandoi (singing competition).
Kaamatan.blogspot : All things Kaamatan
mySabah.com : Managed by my ex-colleague. Whenever there are beauties gathered, there he will be in the midst of all, snapping pix after pix. Not sure if he will be there in KDCA later but while waiting for the updates, you can check out the other galleries.

If you know anymore that is not listed here, please post them in the comments section for the benefit of others. Thanks in advance!

Anyway, here are a couple of pictures of Madelyne Nandu, crowned Unduk Ngadau 2005, taken from the Miss Malaysia World website. Pity she didn’t win - heck - she didn’t even reached podium finish (not in the top 3) but with this look - maybe she can be as big as Daphne Iking (Unduk Ngadau 2003 - now a regular face on Malaysian TV).

You can check out how she looks like when she was still young at this page. Hopefully the pictures above weren’t photoshopped :P
