Rubber clogs shoes + Escalator = Danger

rubber clogs shoes crocs dangerous escalatorsThe rubber clogs shoes, which have exploded in the US as one of the biggest footwear trends has made it here. Though I haven’t seen the Crocs brand, imitations are being sold openly. I even bought 1 pair for my son last month.

The super light and comfortable wear made it a popular choice here as well but there is a growing list of accidents involving children wearing this type of shoes while riding on the escalators. The accidents happened in the US and also Singapore.

The main reported causes were these shoes get sucked between the side of the escalator and the stationary wall. It is believed these children let their shoes run along the wall, the friction causing the shoes to melt and get sucked into the side of the machine.

Questions from kids

Toddlers and kids are very eager to learn and are not shy to ask anything that intrigued them. Just yesterday morning, my son Jordan woke me up from my sleep by asking why the pillows we were using has a rectangle shape. Since I couldn’t google for the answer at that moment, I just said the shop sells it like that. Luckily he accepted my answer :)

Anyway, here’s a collection of funny questions from kids.

JACK (age 3) was watching his Mom breast-feeding his new baby sister.
After a while he asked: “Mom why have you got two? Is one for hot and
one for cold milk?”

MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she
was so old she didn’t remember any more. Melanie said, “If you don’t
remember you must look in the back of your panties. Mine say five to six”

STEVEN (age 3) hugged and kissed his Mom goodnight. “I love you so
much, that when you die I’m going to bury you outside my bedroom
window.”
