Kotobian Tadau Tagazo do Kaamatan

Translated - Happy Harvest Festival! Yes today is the climax for the most important celebration for the local ethnic tribes in the state of Sabah, Malaysia - it’s so important that we have 2 days holidays (30th and 31st of May), that is one day more than Christmas and Good Friday holidays.

Anyway, though many people are flocking to the KDCA to enjoy the festivities, my wife and I are still thinking of going there or not. If the same heavy rain + thunder + lightning that hit the area yesterday would occur again, then there’s a good chance that we will be wet as well.

Since a few of my regular readers are Sabahans but based elsewhere, I am posting a few sites that provide some fresh pictures and videos of Unduk Ngadau (beauty queens). Hope you guys feel at home.

Lady and gentlemens

So yesterday I went to an international trade fair launch at Promenade Hotel, KK. The trade fair itself will be held in September in Likas. I helped in the development of their website.

Anyway, I don’t know what’s my point in blogging about this but the speech by the organising chairman was funny. Not funny because he made it so. He was dead serious in delivering his speech as the Industrial Minister was among the audience.

What was so funny?

Josh Lim loves me!

You might be asking me : Who the heck is Josh and does your wife knows about this?

Okay let me tell you. Josh Lim is the CEO of Advertlets.com and he just approved my blogvertorial on advertlets.com. Yes I know he approved other bloggers’ review as well but hey, anyone who gives RM50 to a complete stranger just because he spent 10 minutes writing something tantamounts to some kind of loving, right? No? well nevermind.

Anyhoo - here’s my balance over at blogvertorial.

That’s a big jump from the fat zero I posted yesterday right?

Advertlets.com Review

Well it seems like I am the last person on the planet to join Advertlets.com and make some Malaysian money. You can see the ad on the right.

For those who just came out of the cave with me, advertlets.com is a site where you can find advertisers that is matched to your audience. Most importantly, if you’re a Malaysian and your visitors are all Malaysians, isn’t it time that you show local advertisement? That is more relevant and at the same time satisfying (in one way or another).

Well if that didn’t work, let me rephrase. Advertlets.com is a place where bloggers can make some Ringgit. Not dollars where you need to convert them to Ringgit. This is direct Ringgit. That is why I signed up with them - for the dough. Kaching!

Giuk update

Last weekend, I sat down and finally fixed one of Giuk.net’s glaring problem, the time inconsistencies between blogs. If you’ve been a regular reader on giuk, you would have probably noticed that a lot of the feeds’ timestamp were advanced by a few hours.

And because all of the posts were sorted according to the time that they were published, these feeds with incorrect times were always ahead of the pack for more than half of the day. The culprits were these blogs from blogspot.com (including my joeff.net) - of course the fault does not fall on them - it’s just that the software running behind Giuk didn’t anticipate getting feeds from different timezones, thus no option to alter the time for specific blogs.
