Jules messaged me yesterday and asked me to read Daily Express’ hotline column, as someone complained about his car being broken into while jogging at Likas Sports Complex. However since I left my newspaper in the car, I only managed to read it in the evening.
After I got my hands on the news, my temper and anger went up in a matter of seconds - yes after I read the first paragraph I was already mad at everything and everyone.
You see, the victim said that the robbery happened on the 2nd of February 2007. That is 2 - yes 2 DAYS after my car received the same fate. And get this, before my car, another kancil had its back window smashed too.
Yes 2 DAYS BEFORE mine.
Do you see the pattern here? If you want to know the truth, you can read the whole story here in my family blog. When my car was broken into, the regular joggers told me it was a weekly occurence but it seems the police was taking this lightly.
I was convinced this is the case from the way I was being handled at the police station.
Yes I know the police have their priorities and want to catch the killers and rapists first but does that mean leave those doing petty crimes be the kings of our town?
Do you know they have the suspected robbers’ motorcycle plate number from one of the earlier incident. How much information and leads do they want to get? Is it very hard to catch these people?
Just place an undercover policemen posing as one of the regular joggers or hide in one of the parked cars to catch these madafaka crooks. I’m sure our police have better ways to catch them and I don’t know why they aren’t able to stop this thing from happening.
Just take 7 days to do this and I’m sure they can catch the criminal.
Those in KK would have read about the businessman whose factory was broken into 4 times this year and lost about RM5K worth of materials but the police didn’t do anything to protect him. So he installed an electric fence around his factory and a suspected thief was killed by the current a few days later.
I can feel his anger and disappointment over the inaction of our police force. What’s more sad is the owner now faces court chargers for causing death by negligence. The police says he accidentally handled the wire fence and no proof that he’s a thief.
I don’t really like these officers from other states. It seems like they don’t give a shickle about us. Well that’s just me.
My advice for joggers - stay at home.
If you really want to jog, put all your valuables in a knapsack to jog with or leave your purse/office at home or in the office. Come back later to get it.
Don’t leave in your car. No matter where. The safest place is under the tyre (you have to place your wallet on the road and park your tyre above it).
Okay that’s my rant for today. If you’re police and you’re reading this, I’m sure you’re one of the good ones out there (or else you wont be my regular readers right? :P ).
That’s it for my blog today. Need to prepare for a meeting soon. Sh*t I’m still mad.

Yeah…Badak (and others who felt victims), i understand your feelings cos i’ve been victims too, only worse! Home ransacked, police came after taking their times. Waa..sanang-sanang sia bila suka datang oh. Then took some pics and thumbprints…then, nothing happened. Guess all for statistical purpose only. Sometime i think our police force don’t serve their purpose. Just look at crime rates…it’s as if the police do not exist. well….i guess some of them are there just for the sake of employment! kesian pula…..

While I understand the frustration of the factory owners, I don’t think one has the right to install electrified wire fence as this will endanger innocent people life too.
I read that he only reported to the police once where he lost about RM400. Don’t know about the other loses.
I am not on the police side, there’s a lot of things that they can do better. At the moment, I just do not trust them.

You can install electric fence, tapi yang low voltage one lah that only gives u a tingle. Kalo macam 240 volts… misti lah mati.
Well, sometimes if the authorities dont leave u any choice, what can you do to protect yourself?

One things for sure, the system in our country still has it’s flaws. It is frustating to hear this let alone experience it ourselves. Solution? I don’t know man. If we blog and make a big hoo-ha nanti kena saman pulak. But in semenanjung here, they are kind of OK. I mean the counter service lah.

I can understand your frustration. For me, I’m lucky that there’s just a park around the corner for my convience. Guess that other than depending on the ‘force’, one must be extremely careful as well. Self-dependence is always the safest solution out.

duuulu time sya naik teksi from Ranau-KK, i’ve heard this passenger in the taxi bcrita pasal polis punya hal. Dia ckp dia bekas polis…then satu ayat yang sya tdk penah lupa dia ckp mcm ni “Kebanyakan polis-polis yg kena hantar d sabah ni kira mcm yang jenis rejected (maybe kurang cekap), yang ok semua kena hantar pegi smnanjung…klu polis sabah yg ok pun kena transfer pegi sana”
erm…dunno la is it true apa yg dia ckp..i just flashback what ive heard b4…

Good idea, Lai. But nanti you take the pics to police nanti dorang cakap ‘tiada kerja lain ka?’. About the difference in the police force here and semenanjung…i doubt it la. Maybe alasan dia ja tu…if you want to be good policeman it’s up to your own will…nothing to do with geographical! Lagi butul kalau dia sakap..ikut orang-orang politik skarang ba….lagi banyak RASUAH! Guess what happen in countries like Japan, US, Britain…most of our LOCAL POLITICANS would be inmates in “special jails”. Apacam….butul kas sia punya tembirang????

Ayiyaaa…lupa la. I got one stupid suggestion>>> After taking pics of the thieves(without them know la…of course) tell them where they can break into cars of politicans…add that it’s going to be more worth it as they tend to have more valuables. Huh…alang-alang suruh sia dorang curi sama-sama mercedes.BMW la!!! Tell them not to feel guilty…they bought those from money stolen/cheated from the people la…This way ordinary and moral abiding citizens like us will be spared. Besides, who knows when VIPs become victims the authorities will start doing what they’re being paid for…kan? kan? kan? Stuju????? :)

Si maureen pulak tu Binus? Adidididi.. nasib dia ok. Sengaja ka dia drive slow tu hehehe.
I guess we all know the root of the problem.. too many PTIs here. Even in my office, 3 cases already tyres stolen from the auto in the car park.. in broad daylight but of course that one no proof lah its PTIs.
One thing for sure, the police need to beef up their policing skills. If more victims feel like me (and there are many, increasing by the day), the police integrity and public’s trust will continue to drop.
