This sculpture of a shark heading into a house is rather huge, it is 25 feet long and weighs 203 kilograms. I think those with Selachophobia (fear of sharks) will want to avoid living in this neighbourhood. The sculpture of the shark has no head and has been there since 1986 in, fittingly enough, Headington, Oxford, England. Get it? Head-ington?

What is the purpose behind it? According to the house owner

The shark was to express someone feeling totally impotent and ripping a hole in their roof out of a sense of impotence and anger and desperation…. It is saying something about CND, nuclear power, Chernobyl and Nagasaki.”

This is one place you don’t want to be born in. In Austria, there’s a small settlement that is called “Fucking” since the year 1070. It was named after a man named “Focko”. When the suffix “ing” is added, which by the way means “people” in old Germanic, it becomes Fucking.

Of course, to the local people there, it means “place of Focko’s people”.

The settlement’s most famous feature is a traffic sign with its name on it, beside which English-speaking tourists often stop to have their photograph taken. It is a commonly stolen street sign.

My colleague recommended me this service, Mobik.com which is a web service for sending free SMS worldwide. I used it once last month and I anticipated that my number will now receive some spam-sms from the domain. Fortunately I received none so far. In fact, I received a few SMS from Mobik from other people (mostly asking me to join their get-rich-quick scheme).

The site states that they get revenues from advertisers (which also appears after you click on the submit button). The bad news is, you can only send SMS if you’re from the region or country where they have advertisers.

The good news is, of course, they have advertisers for Malaysia. So Malaysians can use this for free. I’m sure big countries like US, UK and Singapore are covered too. So you can send free SMS.
