300 Movie Review

Sorry for the no-updates yesterday. Something came up in the office that needed my immediate attention. And by immediate I had to go to the office at 11.30pm and went back at 2am. And it continued for the whole day yesterday.
Anyway, last night I brought my wife to watch 300 and here’s my take on it.
Before the show started I met a friend outside the cinema and she said that, after watching the movie, I will want to build my own six packs. But throughout the show, I wasn’t really looking at those sixers, their breasts got my attention more - ummm I mean “pumped up chest”. Come to think of it, all of the guys chests were larger than the females from the show.
Watching the movie was like watching Mr Universe but apart from the flesh exposure, the movie’s fighting scenes were the best I’ve seen since the Matrix trilogy. The speed which goes to slow and fast and slow again like playing a pirated VCD, actually worked for this movie.
I’ve never found myself enjoyed so much gore, blood, loose limbs, men shouting “wooh! wooh! wooh!” and grainy-film in 2 hours. You’d expect a happy ending where at least King Leonidas survives and go on to mate with his queen to produce more of his warrior breed but, they have to stick to the legend story. Then again, I guess dying at the battlefield is their “beautiful death” (as spoken by one the spartans).

However I can say that this movie is not for the purists. I mean you can’t kill humungous elephants using just spears. Just watch it like it’s a comic book comes to life. With a David and Goliath story. It’s not re-telling a story with facts, but glorifying a legendary tale.
I found myself wishing I was one of them Spartans. Brave and smile in the face of death. Of course, I need to tone my body and shout really, really loud.
But I’m sure my ancestors the KadazanDusuns were like that in the olden days. They showed no fear and will cut their enemies head off, I just wonder where has all of our warrior genes has gone?
Maybe they were washed by all the tapai and montoku (locally made alcoholic brew). While those who don’t drink mostly became politicians and took the easy way by kissing some buttocks from the other side of the sea. The rest like me just watch things happen through the newspapers and worked for the big man till pension comes. *sigh*.
Anyhoo, it was a great movie. Worth every ringgit. You can watch a home-made trailer at the end of this post.
Spartans never retreat! Spartans never surrender!
Woooh!! Woooh!! Woooh!!

Bravo Badak! I really like your quote; “became politicians and took the easy way by kissing some buttocks from the other side of the sea”. I know what and who you meant…ironic, I and some others think so, too. It’s sooo… soooo… sad.. uhuk.. uhuk… :c many of our KDM leaders are willing to go SOOOO LOW to fulfill their selfish desires! Bagus join dorang ba…baru kita punya kedudukan kukuh konon. BULLSHIT! They don’t realise that in doing so they become traitors to their own people…like becoming a KEMPETAI during the cruel Japanese rule in WW2. I wish we can have those 300 warriors to help us rid of ‘foreigners’(locals and pilaks)! How Sabah would be more of our own state!
