After a few days after our Home Minister said the lucky draw for MyKad users was stupid and rubbish, another carrot is being dangled in front of the public and this probably is stupid and rubbish.

Putera Umno announced that they will reward Mat Rempit here with motorcycles for helping police detain snatch thieves. Mat Rempit are the nickname for the mischievous illegal racers and gangsters roaming the streets of Malaysia.

For me, I think these Mat Rempits and snatch thieves are made up of the same people. They snatch helpless ladies’ handbags during the day and race during the night. This move looks desperate and potrays as if our police force have lost the war againts both the Mat Rempits and snatch thieves (or have they?)

Which issues do they want to solve? Why do you want to give motorcycles to Mat Rempits? Isn’t that will only encourage them to race more? Isn’t it better to give them jobs instead?

And borrowing the same argument as our current Home Minister, the public, including Mat Rempits have the duty of catching snatch thieves. You don’t need prizes to catch them.

If this trend continues, then we might as well implement the following :

• Prizes for snatch thieves catching Mat Rempits illegal racing (give them free ladies handbag?)
• Prizes for motorists who catch traffic policemen asking for bribes
• Prizes for traffic policemen who catch motorists offering bribes
• Prizes for other motorists who catch other motorists and traffic policemen exchanging bribes
• Prizes for bloggers who catches anyone making stupid campaign

Can you think of anymore prizes that all of us should enjoy?
