GoldenPalace.com Monkey
I think this is the only animal that has a .com as its name. The GoldenPalace.com Monkey is a new-found monkey species under the Titi group, found in Bolivia.
It would be very entertaining if I could say that the monkey was first discovered playing blackjack online with GoldenPalace.com hence the name - but that would be over the top.
This species was discovered in early 2005 during an expedition by a conservation group and in order to raise funds for the national park in Bolivia, decided to auction the rights to name the new species.
GoldenPalace.com won the auction with a winning bid of USD$65,000.
The online casino giants has been known with extra ordinary and stupid marketing gimmicks, from buying the grilled cheese sandwich that looks like the Virgin Mary ($28,000) to paying a B-list porn star to run across the 11th hole in the final round of the US Open (with their URL painted above her breasts).
Now I hope I can get on the act of any auction to the naming rights of any new Rhinoceros species found, so I can name it mrBadak.com
