Web munchkin

We first heard of the word munchkin when they appeared in the 1900 novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz in which they are described as being somewhat short of stature, and wear only blue (wiki).

So what’s a web munchkin? Well I really don’t know, maybe anything that is small and on the internet.

What’s my post about today? A webmaster received an email from a small-time internet businessman who doesn’t get any respect on the net (see kids, if you don’t respect others, you will end up hurting them :D ).

His rant? Well because he was using the webmaster’s graphics on his own website to do his business. When the webmaster (read: owner) changes the location of the images, the leecher’s site got affected as well.

How to pass a value from a URL into flash file

*WARNING* Programming-related post ahead.

I’ve decided to post this up as a personal note because I couldn’t find a site that explains exactly how to do this, so I just picked up bits and pieces from a few sites and managed to do this task. Quite simple actually (maybe that’s why not many sites talk about it :P ).

I’m no good with Flash at all but sometimes, you get clients who wants this bells and whistle. To cut a long story short, I need to have a menu which have different background colors on certain areas depending on which page you are viewing.

So, since it is a donkey’s job to create multiple flash files with same content but with only the colors are different, I needed to find how to jump to a specific “Scene” inside the flash file on different page.

$1 million a week for Becks

david beckhamYou’ve probably known this by now. Becks is heading for Major League Soccer (MLS) and will receive a cool one million per week for the next five years. For the uninitiated, you might be wondering why the MLS wants to pay him that much?

Well it’s what he can bring to the game - popularity, glamour and exciting football (if he still has it).

Waww… imagine if I can earn that much. I will not be able to sleep just to think what I can buy tomorrow!

Here’s what the MLS is saying about him

“David transcends the sport and is a cultural icon. David is clearly one of the most recognisable athletes in the world. People are going to feel really good about David Beckham spending the rest of his career in the U.S.”
