What not to do when podcasting

Do you know what is a podcast? Podcasting is like tivo for radio (that will be Astro Max for us Malaysians) and no, you don’t need an iPod to be able to listen to a podcast. A podcast is simply an audio content delivered via a web feed. So you can download and listen them whenever you want.

I haven’t stumbled any local web publisher with a good podcast though. Listening to the Sabahan slang being delivered in a podcast will be hilarious! However you will need to impress people from the word go. So you need to know what *not* to do when podcasting.

Rants on cute puppies

cute puppy kittenAfter posting an entry about cats, I just have to blog about puppies! Do you like puppies? Well I do (I like cats too). My best and longest pet dog was named Brainy. Not because we consider him smart but because when we bought him from our family friend, his original name was Browny (because he was brown). My dad didn’t want to continue using that name so we tweak it to Brainy.

He was with us for almost 10 years. He died 3 days after I left my house to study in KL. My mom said he just wouldn’t eat. He was used to me giving him food. It was heartbreaking when I got the news :(

Anyway, my wife and I already agreed that we want to get a dog for our new house. To be our companion and also to scare off intruders.

Objects gender

Received this in my inbox this morning.

You might not have known this, but a lot of non-living objects are actually either male or female. Here are some examples:

FREEZER BAGS: They are male, because they hold everything in, but you can see right through them.

PHOTOCOPIERS: These are female, because once turned off, it takes a while to warm them up again. They are an effective reproductive device if the right buttons are pushed, but can also wreak havoc if you push the wrong buttons.

Michael J Fox Ad

michael j fox stem cell research

A few days ago, a tv ad appeared showing actor Michael J Fox speaking in support of candidates who supports stem cell research. He is suffering from Parkinson’s disease and from the tv ad you can see the involuntary movement that his body makes.

You can watch the ad at the end of this post.

Fox’s political advisor, John Rogers, explained that the actor’s involuntary, repetitive movement seen in his campaign ads stem from a condition called dyskinesia, a common side effect of the medication many Parkinson’s sufferers take to allow them greater mobility.

The reaction from the tv ad was evident, some people mocked him, some says he was acting but a poll showed the support for stem cell research jumped after the tv ad was shown.

Rhinoplasty and cosmetic surgery

While trying to check out some random image of rhinos to be used on my SabahRhinos.com site, I came across the term Rhinoplasty. First I thought it was a rhino toy made out of plastic but actually that’s the term for “surgery to re-shape the nose”. Heh I didn’t even know they have a term for that.

rhinoplasty

My wife says I have a big nose and my son inherited that feature. I see it as a bonus because we are getting a bigger chunk of oxygen than people with normal or smaller nose but still I don’t have to pay extra income tax for it :P

I’ve seen the show “extreme makeover” where they select “ugly people” (I know it’s not right to use this term but watch the show and you’ll see why) and completely transform them through cosmetic surgery. If you watch that show you will see the positive side of cosmetic surgery, that is giving individuals the confidence and self-esteem that is rightfully theirs.
