Haze, haze go away
It was pouring the whole day yesterday caused by Bebinca. This morning, finally you can see the sun shining after a week of haze. The haze situation in Sabah reached its peak on Tuesday causing some domestic flights to be cancelled.
But what irks me the most is the local media’s reluctant to report the haze situation in the state. They start to mention the haze only today and of course that report is to say that the haze was blown away by the tropical storm.
I know they don’t want the international media to pick up the news that will hurt the tourism industry but they forgot the people who are living and breathing the air every single second. Do you know that the haze API index reached the unhealthy level in Tawau on Tuesday?
But you don’t see the news telling people not to do any strenuous outdoor activity.
While the Sarawak government has been discussing whether to do cloud-seeding to force the rain, people running our state of Sabah go on with their business in their air-conditioned room without looking at the common people walking on the streets outside the window.
However if you read The Star today, they reported the haze the day after it happened. The local reporters or editors should think about their role and not just, giving a “screen saver” reporting on the state.
Sheesh. Okay I just have to let it out of my system. Back to normal blogging.

Just checking the haze situation in Sabah this week. Is it still bad? Can’t seem to find any updated report on the internet.

hi monica, no it’s not as bad as last week and certainly not as bad as Sarawak or KL. It’s been raining daily and I think that helped clear the haze a bit.
