How to use your PC and Webcam as a motion-detecting and recording security camera
My small family will be moving into our new home next year and I will put this tip on top of my projects to do at my new home.
I skimmed through the article and it seems easy to do, all you need is a computer (duh) running Win 98 and later, a web cam or two and Dorgem - an open source (free) webcam utility. It will capture pictures whenever motion is detected.
See what the author caught on his first day.

Okay so that was himself testing it out but who knows what *your* cam will snap. Want to try it out?

just wondering, you setup the PC and webcam (I assumed as a CCTV to deter breakin and alike). Then the thief break into your house and steal your PC and Webcam as well, then? Unless you wanna connected to streamyx 24 hrs a day and continuous upload pictures to a remote server, but I wonder how reliable is that as well

that is always the 64 thousand dollar question everytime i see this being done in offices: what if the thief steals your pc too?
