Pulau Gaya Revenge : Could it happen?
Were you one of the recipients of the “Pulau Gaya revenge” sms threat that made rounds on Saturday night? Well I received the sms and also received a friendly advise-cum-warning call from my brother to stay away from the town on that night. I was actually attending a wedding function in Putera Ballroom, Bukit Padang.
For those who are in the dark, on Friday afternoon, 5 police officers were attacked by parang-wielding filipinos on the island of Gaya when they were trying to nab some drug pushers. Three of the police received slashes wounds on their face, hands and body. One of the attackers was shot dead while the other one is injured.
Pulau Gaya has been known to be a hotbed for all things illegal. Not only the activities are illegal, even the person doing them are also illegals. Haiya.
Anyway, back to the SMS. The message said that the police went back to the island to flush the bad guys. One police officer got his head chopped off and a few filipinos were killed. So word was, they were planning to launch a massive attack on KK that night - so everyone was told to stay at home.
That time, I can’t believe the message but somehow a chill went down my spine too. Cuz there are a lot of illegals surrounding my place, so if there was a mob on the street then I will surely be stopped by their roadside checkpoint (see what happens to your imagination when you read all this happening in Iraq).
Of course, we went back safely that night. And everyone was talking about AFUNDI that night, not Pulau Gaya. So on Sunday morning, there was no news on any “revenge” or any police officers losing their head. Guess it was just an sms started by someone who didn’t want to waste money by AFUNDIng but spreading terror and fear.
Anyway, the thought of that “revenge” episode lingers in my head. I mean, could it really happen? They have thousands of people on that island and the police has for many years labelled that area as a “black area” and seem unreachable for them to control.
Say lah, palis-palis, they co-ordinate on a large scale and bring other illegals from Sembulan, Sri Tanjung, Papar, Luyang and just make chaos everywhere. Maybe they can’t do it now but who’s to say it won’t happen 10 years from now?
What do you think?

I hope Datuk Nazri read or bother to read the news about this incident then he can eat his words saying these bloody PTIs do not cause any problem in Sabah.
To the POLICE and other security forces…this is YOUR CHANCE to prove who really has the power here. FLUSH those PTI BASTARDS out of our beloved Sabah once and for all!!! DON”T let them think that your’re UNCAPABLE of soing so!!!

I am from Kuala Lumpur and will be visiting Pulau Gaya soon for a diving excursion. Hence, just doing some research about Gaya.
I must say that I don’t like your blog because it paints a very bleak picture. It sounds like you are hoping for trouble when you close by saying “Who’s to say it can’t happen in 10 years time?”.
Also, who’s to say you or I won’t die tomorrow? Anything can happen, but come on. Be a responsible Malaysian and report objectively and don’t plant negative ideas like attack on Chinese and all. Your blog is read by an international community and will paint a distorted picture of Malaysia.
I won’t be back to visit your blog, and cannot tell you what to do with your blog. Its your blog, but I may suggest a rephrase in order to paint an accurate picture.

Hi David, see what a lil research can do for you? Now you know how Sabahans feel threatened about their presence. Look at what the other Sabahans are responding to my question - heck LAi even said no need to wait for 10 years.
Anyway, I am not “trying” to paint a bleak picture. How can you ask me to present a good report when all i can see in town are illegals? At least you know what to expect when you come here.
Let’s not wait for another Sipadan incident then the authorities act on them ok? Attack on the chinese was just one of the content in the SMS and I just mentioned it - not trying to blow up anything small.
The newspapers from Borneo should be given away in Semenanjung so you all know wats the real situation here.
