Microsoft drops its XP pirate checks
This news is from Australia so I’m not sure if computers in Malaysia will be relieved from this “online threat” too. I’m for one… have one tip which has worked for me since day 1.
After installing the notification and finding out that the cracker I used wasn’t effective, I restored my WinXP to the state before the update and didn’t click on this update. Then when you don’t download the update, on the following pop-up box you tick on “Don’t ask me about this update again”. Kaw tim.
Of course you can’t do this if you set your update to auto.
The secrecy of the initiative, with the tool downloaded through the Windows auto-update feature, is what has angered users most of all. Mr Smith said the anti-piracy measure was “slipped under the radar”, making it difficult to avoid and leaving most users completely unaware that their system was checking up on them.
