Laser melts fat under the skin

Fat melting laser may treat cellulite, heart disease and acne. Is this the greatest invention since melted cheese served on curly fries? (Emmmmm).

It’s news like this that keeps me from taking up serious exercising! So far it has only been tested on pigs with two-inch-thick skin as samples (how thick is our skin anyway?), and human testing can only be done a few years from now.

Scientists at Massachusetts General Hospital, USA, are using the Free-Electron Laser at specific wavelengths (selective photothermolysis) to heat up fat, which is then excreted by the body - without harming the skin.
