There’s a worrying pattern that I’m experiencing from Exabyte’s affiliate program - IT’S NOT TRACKING ANY SALES!
Yeah you might say I didn’t get any commission as I didn’t sell any package - well I did - I mean I recommended them to my clients and ask them to click through my banner and buy the package, right in front of me and my affiliate commission didn’t increase.
Okay so now you might say that it’s because I was asking people to click on my links - well unlike PPC (Pay Per Click), many PPS (Pay Per Sale) affiliates do allow you to encourage people to click your links as the commission will go through only when a sale is made (money is paid).
Anyway, to be on the safe side, I’ve sent a request ticket to Exabytes and asked regarding this (twice) and yes, they say we can click on our own links and buy the plan, as long as the paying party is different.
Well well well - looks like someone in advertlets forgot to do something really, really important - that is to renew their domain name which expired on 4th Jan 2008. Now if your blog is running their ads, visitors will be redirected to another domain which contained only ads.
Hmmmm I’m still waiting for my cheque which they haven’t sent since Oct 2007 (they claimed I was involved in a click-fraud scheme, for which I denied). Anyway, hopefully they can fix this fiasco as I believe this affects hundreds of Malaysian blogs.

Actually, if you look back the past few weeks, this blog *never* really went on a hiatus actually. Only the posts were far apart. What happened was that I was experimenting with my own schedule and also to see how it would affect my income, particularly adsense.
Well the results were positive, though I only updated twice a week, everything else was as usual, income-wise. So I think I would keep it that way, a minimum 2 posts a week with the following “theme”.
When I started this blog more than 2 years ago, it was just another fun thing to do. I updated every weekdays, posting news and sites that I find interesting online and offline.
However, for the last couple of months or so, that passion went missing. What was fun back then is now a burden. I find myself just posting stuff for the sake of posting, just to fill in the schedule.
So rather than posting junk, I’m taking a few weeks’ break and will decide the best way to continue this (or not). In the meantime, if anyone misses me, you can find me updating my family blog, updating giuk and hanging around SabahRhinos.
On the personal front, my paypal password was stolen on Merdeka Day and the intruder removed all of my money to another account. Luckily the paypal team suspected it was suspicious and suspended the transaction and returned my money.
I was rather shaken by the episode and what is even worse, I didn’t even know how they got my password. I suspected there’s a trojan/keylogger on my laptop, so I spent the whole night changing every password across all websites (banks, emails, blogs and forums) on another PC. I still need to format that damn notebook!
Anyway, to all my readers, sorry that I am taking this “leave”, check out the archives if you’re bored. I’ll be back soon.. no promises though :P
