A former student of New Era College is suspected of punching the college’s chairman while he was reading his speech in front of 500 students, parents, teachers and guests. The man calmly walked onto the stage, neared his target and released a punch which left Dr Yap ractured cheekbone and a bleeding nose.

The event was also captured on camera and showed on 8TV last night. Here is a recording uploaded to youtube.

Hmmm – I’m quite surprised that he didn’t manage to avoid the punch. I mean if Bush can avoid a shoe, he should’ve been ready when he sees the guy approaching him.

But I’m guessing he thought the dude was about to give him flowers or water or something. What’s even more surprising, he managed to escape but it won’t be long before he’s in the custody of the police.

It is unclear if the attack is linked to an ongoing squabble between Dr Yap and the college’s former principal Dr Kua Kia Soong.

Dr Yap had supported Dong Zong when it did not extend Dr Kua’s contract which expired in December.

Well with this violent act, he will only get more symphatizers for the old man.
