A man committed suicide in New Mexico but wanted to make it look like he was murdered, most probably to double the insurance claim his family can get if his death was accidental. He removed the grip and trigger guard from the gun to make it lighter, tied helium balloons to it, covered his mouth with duct tape, and somehow managed to shoot himself in the back of the head.

He was hoping that the balloons would fly away with the gun. It didn’t work however as the balloon got stuck to a bush near him. I guess he forgot to consider the wind that could alter the balloon’s path. Police investigators has ruled it was suicide and has seen the similarities with an episode from CSI: Crime Scene Investigation which was aired in October 2003.

However they are not sure if the man saw the episode.
