Why I dumped Advertlets

A few of my friends and also 1-2 visitors asked me personally, why I chose to be Nuffnang’s Gliteratti instead of Advertlets’ TITAN. Is it better pay or is the ads working better. When I gave my answer to them, they were surprised and suggested that I should blog about it. They say, if I keep quiet, that would mean I’m guilty. Especially in the eyes of Josh Lim of Advertlets.

After considering after a while (like 6 months!), I think I’ll tell the whole story here. Since I shamelessly declared that Josh Lim loved me a year ago, it’s only fair to report that our relationship didn’t work out.

My earnings amount with them went over the minimum cash-out a few months after I joined and I decided to cash out before Raya last year. The cheque didn’t arrive after 2 months so I sent a support ticket, I received assurances I would get it before Christmas.

Year 2008 came and still no cash. Sent an email inquiry again.

*And then* the real reason came out.

I first blogged about Matt in 2006 here. Matt travels all around world, films himself dancing while blogging all about it.

Well his new video compilation is out! It’s amazing to know he’s still doing it. Ever since his first video came out, a lot of people knew his story and were happy to be part of his next video. So the new video consists of a lot of people dancing with him.

My favourite parts are demilitarized zone (Korea), Poria (Papua New Guinea), Guargon (India) and the opposing sides of Israel and West Bank. Somehow, for a few minutes the world was one and at peace.

Noooo!

for me?
Noooo! I’m not sharing!

I’m sure you’ve read the news by now, Datuk Yong has dropped a bombshell by declaring that they’ve lost faith in Pak Lah and wants him to step down. Yong also said he’s started the process of getting 20% oil royalty and getting back Labuan. The delaying tactics by the federal government in solving issues affecting Sabahans was cited as his main reason for his latest move.

Even a few months ago when Yong gave the Federal an ultimatum, all Pak Lah could say was “yes yes, we will look into it”. Well they’ve been looking into it for 20 years already and still, illegal immigrants roam the streets, hog the public transportation, bring drugs and poisoned our youths. Not only that, rich businessmen from the peninsular came here, bought land from the kampung folks and hired these illegals to protect their “land”.

Children from the interior walks to school barefooted and at night they study under kerosene lamps.

What was BN’s response to these? Well they’ve started to call him irresponsible, biadap and coward. Nobody tried to give a good answer to SAPP’s motion. The other Sabah MPs who are distancing themselves just don’t have the balls like Datuk Yong.

As a Sabahan, I support this move. Anything to solve the problems affecting Sabahans.

What about you? Do let me know in the comments.

Get sparked

social sparkIf there’s any site that bloggers are looking forward to, it should be this one. I’m talking about SocialSpark. This is a social network for bloggers and advertisers, think facebook + pay per post, yes that’s social spark.

This is a new offering from IZEA, the same people who brought to you PayPerPost. If somehow PPP left a bad taste in your mouth due to the sudden lost of site’s PR last year, then SocialSpark comes clean. For starters, PPP is not SocialSpark. You even need to create a new profile, there’s no export/import of any kind.

All of the sponsored links have the attribute “NoFollow” in them, that would keep the search engines happy especially the big G. With this step, big corporations would not shy away from advertising through the blogging community (hint - more cash for us!).

How is this site social? Well if you have a profile, you can add other bloggers as your friends. You can also freely mingle with the advertisers as well and they can also check your site stats, which is public.

The opportunities open for bloggers include the usual sponsored post and sponsored blog. Sponsored blog is an interesting idea whereby the advertiser pay you by the day, in exchange they would place a small bar on the bottom of your page. The positive about this is, you don’t have to change your blog layout to free some space for the sponsor.

One thing which is I hope they would do is to accept non-blog websites, so that I can find advertisers for my other sites!

Anyway, even though this post is sponsored, I’m already a convert and have registered myself - if you’re a member or joining soon - do add me ya! Here’s my profile link.
