Steve’s passion for wildlife and reptiles made me excited to learn about them and helped me be aware of the danger they are or will be if we don’t do everything possible to keep the alive and multiplying. In my eyes, Steve was invincible; I can’t believe he’s gone but if he had to leave this world that he so loved, I’m glad that it was by doing something he loved so dearly. Goodbye Steve - your family (immediate, zoo crew and fans) will definitely miss you more than you ever knew. We’ll never forget you or everything you have taught us. You made learning fun and exciting, even for this 53 year young woman. I love you. We won’t let you down but instead will do everything within our power to carry on your conservation efforts. Goodbye my friend until we meet when it’s my turn to leave.

I think he had it coming - he’s too reckless and too eager to show to cameras how brave he is. The act of holding a baby with a croc nearby summarises his outlook on life. Not to say that we’ll never get into trouble for being safety-conscious, but I think he’s stretched his luck for too long.

I am not a fan of crocodile hunter but I’ve seen a few of his episodes. God rest his souls.
