In my first post, I told you about how Microsoft will give you a friendly but annoying message on your screen if your copy of windows xp is not genuine.
And just as expected, many workarounds or patch has crop up on the net to fight this tattoo. At this moment, it is a chasing game between microsoft and the users because as each workaround was revealed, microsoft would then released a new patch to defeat the loophole.
I don’t think [tag]microsoft[/tag] can keep this up as there are thousands of hackers using their product and with time on their hands, can always study the [tag]WGA[/tag] ([tag]Windows Genuine Advantage[/tag]) Notifications’ algorithym and produce a work-around.
I mean, who don’t want the fame and glory as being the person to release a [tag]patch[/tag] and be regarded as the l33t hax0r (leet hacker) of all time?
For users like us, it’s a great advantage, we just sit and relax, let them do the chasing and we do the patching (from both sides). As for my PC, I haven’t installed the [tag]WGA patch[/tag] from microsoft as I’m not sure if I am running a genuine copy or not (installed too many times already) but I have a feeling my copy is not genuine (hope Microsoft doesnt read this).
The patch has been downloaded automatically but I just haven’t install it.
Read the patch/workaround here.
