Pheww. When I received the BE Form from the LHDN Malaysia back in February, I told myself that I will not wait for the last minute to send it in, well I’m glad that I broke that promise.

Because just last month LHDN had a briefing in the office on using the online submission called e-filing. If I’ve sent my forms earlier, I wouldn’t be able to use this online submission and being left-out of the nation’s IT development. That is a no-no for someone whose life depends on the I.T. industry of this country.

I’m not sure if you submitted your form using their online system but for those who are thinking of using it, here are a few pointers.

  • Use IE browser only! Change your default browser to IE because when you submit the form, it will automatically open a web page from LHDN and if your default browser is Firefox (or others), you will get a blank page and you will be clueless on what to do next.
  • When registering for the [tag]digital certificate[/tag] and you received the message “Anda berada di bawah umur 18″, don’t think you are getting younger, instead change your browser to IE (read previous point)
  • Don’t delete your certificate because your PIN Slip and Serial Number can only be used once. If you delete them, you have to get a new slip at the [tag]LHDN[/tag] counters (again).
  • Submit your form at night, less traffic

Anyway, the form’s auto calculation feature is a great time-saver and you can play around with the values to lower your tax payable now you are sure that the [tag]tax payable[/tag] is correct.

Of course the main thing missing is the ability to pay online but at least now I can go to the bank (BCB or PB) to pay my [tag]income tax[/tag]. Other than that, everything else is ok and I give the [tag]e-filing[/tag] system, a good 3 star out of 5 (errr when did this post become a review?).

I will give it a resounding 5 out of 5 when each individual is given a tax rebate of RM1500 hehe.
