Last night I accidentally watched the SONY Handycam Challenge 2 because we were trying to avoid the spooky shows on the other channel. My expectations were high on this program because they are already on Season 2 and I missed every single show last year.

Boy was I dissappointed - BIG TIME! Leave it to Malaysians to spoil a good idea for a show.

Okay so the 2 hosts were trying to be funny - dressing oddly and speaking in Msian english, sometimes Malay mixed in. That’s the normal standard in the local entertainment here and I got used to it that I didn’t change the channel.

So the intro part came and then the LONG advertisement, and I still didn’t get to see even one video clip in the contest yet. Nevermind, I stayed on that channel.

When the program came back, they started showing the video clips. I can remember the first one, a small kid trying to coax a goat by pulling the rope that was attached to its neck. The kid ended up being thrown to the floor. Poor kid.

Then i realise something. I can hear people laughing in the background but *you know* they weren’t laughing at the clip. Why oh why do they have to put in the FAKE LAUGH in there? It makes me embarassed to laugh with those pre-recorded laughs, which was probably recorded when the crowd was watching Friends. Sometimes there’s nothing funny and suddenly they laughed.

Ok all through out the program I was served with mostly low-standard videos, not-funny, not-amazing and nothing to shout about. Man - SONY must be really desperate that they showed those videos.

Among the videos shown were a cat licking its paws and the video title is “finger lickin good”. Cats do that everytime! I didn’t know it was eligible to be included in the contest.

Another one, a group of cats running on the rooftoops. Sorry can’t find the funny stuff in there either.

Still another video shows a panda sleeping on a tree while another one eating the bamboo underneath. Still I can’t see the humour. The host put in the adlib and says like “aiyaaa why are you lazy, look at me eating”. Too bad it’s still isn’t funny.

One more video a monkey looking at itself on a mirror… ??!! Then another monkey trying to find food from a guy’s pocket… nothing happens. The monkey didn’t find anything. I didn’t find anything to even smile too.

Anyway, my point is? The standard of the videos sent in are so lowww I think ANYONE can have a chance of winning some SONY goodies. So I’ll be sending in one or more clips hehehe.
